As a uniquely positioned key strategic and financial partner, Relativity builds relationships for its single picture business, and also creates opportunities and deals to maximize financial results and expand upon its track record.
Relativity is a pioneering force behind, and the largest player within, the studio film slate co-financing business, which has grown rapidly since the structure of a first-of-its-kind deal for Marvel and Paramount in 2004.
Through its existing partnership with Universal Studios Relativity co-finances approximately 75 percent of Universal’s slate. Relativity and Universal have been partners for over four years.
Relativity has established itself as the leading independent financier and producer of the highest profile, commercial films with A-list talent.
With the creation of a new paradigm in the film industry, Relativity has operated with only a fraction of their overhead while releasing a similar quantity of high quality films as the “traditional” major studios.
Relativity’s Single Picture Business is one of its fastest growing business segments and is expected to release approximately 6-8 Relativity Films per year with budgets ranging from $20-$60 million through domestic distribution deals with Lionsgate, Sony Pictures, Universal, and Paramount.
Internationally, Relativity films are distributed through 13 output deals covering more than 100 foreign territories, with distributors including Village Roadshow, Alliance, Momentum Pictures, and various other distributors across the globe.
Similar to traditional studios, Relativity creates and owns its content therefore making the production and distribution decisions to maximize its value potential, without the costly overhead load under which other studios suffer in order to accomplish the same result.
Relativity typically converts 90% of its development projects into production, which is higher than the industry norm.
